A METHOD OF CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Mediation is a private and confidential decision making process in which an impartial facilitator, or mediator, helps disputing parties negotiate. Rather than relying on a third party (like a judge) to make decisions that have major effects on individuals’ lives, mediation gives parties control over their outcomes, taking into account their personal needs and the needs of their families.
benefits of mediation
Individuals have agency over the outcome and the quality of a mediated agreement.
A negotiated settlement supports longterm wellbeing. It addresses the true interests of the individuals involved.
It allows individuals the opportunity to resolve and move past expensive and tiring contested litigation.
It allows individuals to arrive at more creative solutions than ones imposed by the courts.

“mediation is the radical notion that people can make their own decisions.”
